BUSHIDO (Kishindo Karate seminar)

It was an extremely late night yesterday. We did not get home until 1am this morning.
Bushido was a ton of fun. It was hot and we were all really tired.
So tired that we did not want to get up this morning.

Bushido is not a competition. It is just a seminar of sorts where we go and learn from the other black belts in the style and get different ideas.
It is meant to be fun and to come together and make sure everyone has each others back.
It is an all day event. Meaning from 8 am to 10:30 pm. It is a long day in the heat. There were hills they had to overcome, trails they had to walk through in the dark fighting off the black belts that were hiding waiting to fight them.
They had to endure me being up in their faces taking pictures.
During the night lanes, they hated it because the flash would blind them, which is a disadvantage, but that was the point. We wanted to make it hard for them.

Even though I was not participating in the event itself, I am the photographer for the events. While taking pictures, I am putting myself in harms way and I have been tackled and knocked down to the ground while taking pictures.
They want pictures of the group and as individuals and because of the individual pictures, I unfortunately found myself in the wrong place at the wrong time a few times.

All in all, it was a great day/night and I think everyone enjoyed it.

Opening exercises

Sensei Marc, Master Davis, and Sensei Joe

Master Hendrix

Joe is definitely in his element.

Nadia getting some additional instruction.

Raven getting additional instruction.

Again, I think Joe is happiest when he is in his element and doing what he loves.

Raven learning how to use weapons during a kata.

Nadia and our niece Jazmine learning how to use weapons during a kata.

Joe leading all of the white belts in the weapons kata.

Raven so focused. To bad that did not last very long. She was actually in the running of winning the sword at the end of the night, but she faded later in the day and was not as focused or as excited about the things that she was being taught.

Sisters

Nadia and Raven with their buddy. Nadia has been buddies with this guy since we had Shei back in May. This is Raven's first event, but for some reason she also connected with this guy. I do have to say, he has a way with the kids. He is amazing and is genuinely interested in how they are doing and making sure they were taken care of.

Towards the end of the night, all of the little kids were just plain tired. They were ready to call it quits after lunch because of the heat, but they kept pushing through and they knew that they still had the best part of Bushido left...NIGHT LANES!!!

I finally thought to take a picture of the girls after we picked Carson and Quynsie up from my sisters. They were so tired. They were out cold before we ever made it to the freeway, which by the way was not that far from where we were up in Salt Lake.

While the rest of us where out playing Ninja's Quynsie and Carson were with Aunt Britt having a good time.

Just normal cousin stuff!! Quynsie sitting on Aiden.

And my sister claims that she is the fun Aunt because she lets her nieces and nephew play at the splash pad in their pj's.
This is Quynsie with cousin Ryleigh.

Thanks to my sister for watching 2 of our kids for a 14 hour day! It was much appreciated so we did not have to worry about Carson disappearing especially during the night lanes stuff.
