HUGE UPDATE

July 10th-13th

Carson GRADUATES preschool/homeschool. He is so dang smart. I sure am going to miss this boy when he goes off to kindergarten this year. He is on a mid to upper first grade reading level.  We also redone his bedroom because he put a whole in the wall and the carpet was nasty.

July 4th

STADIUM OF FIRE

Our plan worked so well. The kids had no idea that we were going. They thought we had bought them a trampoline in lieu of the stadium of fire. We had a great time as you will see through the pictures. We also tie-died our own shirts for the occasion.

July 3rd

I decided that I would venture out to the lake by myself with the kids today. We didn't last long because the mosquito's were so bad.

Later in the day when dad got home, we went to dinner.

Then we SURPRISED the kids with the tickets to the Stadium of Fire and this is what we got.
June 30th

Cousin love on the trampoline with the sprinkler.

June 27th-29th

Camping up Schofield

This my friends is how you pack your kids clothes and toys for camping. They have clothes and a few toys in their own tote. This way it helps keeps things dry. Good that doesn't go in the cooler also goes in a tote. The kids had a ton of fun. We took our bikes so we would be able to keep up on our family bike rides. The girls played in the water with papa while Carson played with his cars far far away from the water. The kids were riding their bikes around town when they ended up in a place they were not supposed to be in when Raven broke her finger. It was a complete accident, but we did end up in the ER that night. It is a long story as to how we come to find out her finger was broken and that she had an infection starting. We (meaning me, mom) took her to the ER in Price because it was closer. They took x-rays, but said it wasn't broken and sent us on our way. They didn't wrap it back up, give us a prescription or anything. By Monday her finger was still swollen and more puffy. We could tell that an infection was starting so I took her to the Dr. up here at home. They told us that it was broken. They wrapped it and gave us a prescription for antibiotics. Anyway, she is fine and hasn't hardly skipped a beat. In the end things worked out, but  I will never go to that Hospital again unless it is life and death.

June 15th

Fathers Day. Happy fathers day babe. I couldn't have chosen a better daddy for our kids. He is patient, loving and a great provider. We spent the day out at the lake. And the family came over to our house for dinner. This is what it looks like with 8 kids on the trampoline.

June 8th

Joe rides a motorcycle for the first time. And Carson got to sit on it with Papa.

June 7th

In order to get the kids to think we were not going to the stadium of fire this year, we told them that we would buy them a trampoline because it lasts longer than just a night. It was an awesome surprise.

Last day of school and beginning of summer begins. We celebrated by going to great grandma's for the weekend. Uncle Calvin made Carson a race track and I painted it. He loves it. The trick was getting it home, but we got here.

Raven's 9th Birthday

She is the peacemaker in this family. She is soft hearted and doesn't like when she hurts others feelings. She has been through a lot in her life, but even through that, she is a very strong girl who wants to succeed in life. Happy birthday cutie. Also her class program pictures and Quynsie's band concert pictures.

April 21st

This boy got a surprise of a lifetime. He has been begging his dad for two years to see His dad's big work truck and Joe finally stopped at home so Carson could see it. On another awesome note. .. Carson tied his own shoes at therapy today and made this mommy cry.

March 24, 2014

Earlier in the month, Carson was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder.

Sensory processing (sometimes called "sensory integration" or SI) is a term that refers to the way the nervous system receives messages from the senses and turns them into appropriate motor and behavioral responses. Whether you are biting into a hamburger, riding a bicycle, or reading a book, your successful completion of the activity requires processing sensation or "sensory integration."
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD, formerly known as "sensory integration dysfunction") is a condition that exists when sensory signals don't get organized into appropriate responses. Pioneering occupational therapist and neuroscientist A. Jean Ayres, PhD, likened SPD to a neurological "traffic jam" that prevents certain parts of the brain from receiving the information needed to interpret sensory information correctly. A person with SPD finds it difficult to process and act upon information received through the senses, which creates challenges in performing countless everyday tasks. Motor clumsiness, behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, school failure, and other impacts may result if the disorder is not treated effectively.

It has taken us almost 2 years to figure out how to help Carson. We kept thinking it was anger from being in foster care, not being with his birth family and being adopted, which to some degree has been part of it, but not ALL of it. He struggles with speech, behavior and organizing. He is very smart, just not capable of organizing his thoughts and putting them into action. Now that we have an official diagnosis, we have been able to get him the help that he so desperately needed. He is going to Occupational Therapy every other week and individual therapy on top of that. Here are some pictures from one of his therapy sessions.

Quynsie's 6th grade science field trip to BYU

March 14, 2014

Trip to Great Grandma's in Beaver. We always get subway for dinner for the drive down. Sadly this is the only picture I got on this trip.

March 2, 2014

We decided that since we have two girls sharing a room, we would move them into the downstairs living room (we don't use it anyway). All Quynsie wanted for her birthday was to share a room with one of her sisters, so we let Raven and Nadia decide who wanted to share and who didn't. Nadia wanted to share. So here are the pics of their new room.

This is how we do closets when you share a room.

March 1, 2014

Quynsie turned 12 today.  When we first met her she had just turned 10. She has had to grow up way too fast in her short life. She is a joy to have in our family and is a big help. Happy Birthday Quyn.
