Carson got this at school today and when he got in the cart Nadia gasped because she collects pigs. She is up to 53 and she is jealous.

Raven's birthday is on Sunday so I decided to surprise her at school today with flowers, a card, and cookies to share with her class.
She asked me this morning if I was going to bring anything and I told her that we would do it on Monday....Little did she know I had a plan up my sleeve.

I am sure Quynsie will laugh at this next story when she grows up...

So Joe and I were in the kitchen and Quynsie runs past us and says "I think I know why I have been so mean the last couple of days" as she kept running down the stairs.
On a hunch, I took a 3 musketeers down and shoved it under her door and said "The devil has been fed."
She opens her door and started laughing. She then asked me how I knew what she was talking about. I said, because I am a woman and women know these things.
Then she came upstairs and told everyone "the devil's spawn has been fed y'all."

Mama to the rescue again.
Dear children your laundry is part of your chores and needs to be done everyday. I wash dry and sort laundry every day. I'm done being nice and if your don't get it done there is going to be consequences.

Thanks to quynsie who helps with sorting most days (only because she wants certain pants so she helps).
Love mom

Thankful that Joe still opens the van door for me, but he needs some practice on waiting till I'm all of the way in before shutting it. He just shut my butt and foot in the door.

This morning while I was in the shower, Carson decided to take his scissors to his hair so when I got out of the shower, I hurried and shaved his head before school.
I thought we had gotten past this stage.

It is infertility awareness month....

Infertility has been something that we struggle with. Yes, we have adopted 4 amazing kids, but it doesn't mean that we still don't think about infertility often. I actually think about it more than I admit because there is still a part of me that wishes I could have had a biological child and experience pregnancy. Yes this ship has sailed and we are done completing or family

Raven: why does everyone hate Justin beiber ?
Nadia... Haven't you heard about him? His own country doesn't even want him.
Me: laughing

The other night I had this conversation with Carson...

Me: Carson get in bed.
silence
Me: Carson, if I have to come chase you down, you are going to be in serious trouble.
more silence
Me: 5, 4, 3, 2,...

Carson: I am going, I am just taking my sweet time.
This boy....what am I going to do with him?

I cannot believe this was 3 years ago. They were so little.

YESTERDAY
Wow just wow.... I had Raven measured a little over a month ago for her to upgrade to the 3/4 size violin and she wasn't ready for it, but her violin teacher asked me to get her measured again so I did that today and his what? She completely skipped 3/4 and is now in full size!!! What the crap? This kid has always been a slow grower and all of a sudden she shot up in size in a quick hurry. Or at least her arms grew fast.

My rag quilt is ready for binding. I think it will be a great quilt to take camping. It is pretty heavy even without batting. There is 3 layers of material though. It was pretty fun making this. It took me 1 1/2 days to get this far and no I did not work on it the entire time, but I started around 10 yesterday ending for lunch and then ending again for dinner and never worked on it again till this morning and I finished around 2:00 today.

This is called...mamma is not going to do it for you. Again, I am in hopes that one or all of my girls picks up on this passion of mine.

Carson at it again...
  • So raven is mad at us because we blocked a few apps on her phone and Carson went out to find her in the field at grandma's and he came back in and said "man she is a tuff nugget to find." (she was found just he was chasing her)

Homeward bound....BOOOOO

Mamma is a great packer and it is a good thing too since we will be going to Texas in a month and will need to travel light like this so that we can get to things without a huge mess. My goal is that we don't need to put the cargo thing on top of our van because we will be able to fit everything in the van.

  • Me: Carson get in bed.
    silence
Me: Carson, if I have to come chase you down, you are going to be in serious trouble.
    more silence
    Me: 5, 4, 3, 2,...
Carson: I am going, I am just taking my sweet time.

This boy....what am I going to do with him?

This is the worst my feet have looked so far. Thankfully, I have a doctor appointment on Wednesday for my physical anyway, so I will be bringing this up with the doctor then, because it is extremely painful.

  • Grandma says she has heard it all now.... Carson just said he feels like he is pregnant.... Haha... It was pretty funny

  • So I purchased an item that wouldn't fit in a bag at Walmart and I went to show the guy at the door the receipt and he said your to honest. Ummmm an I supposed to take that as a compliment.
  • Dear son, please eat your lunch at lunch time so I don't keep getting phone calls from you saying your tummy hurts and so I don't have to come check your lunch box every time to make sure you are or not. Love mom
I'm over this school year. I can't wait for summer break.

Hang on grandpa, we are on our way...Beaver bound.
My grandpa fell and broke his hip about 3 weeks ago and this is the first time that we have had a chance to get there to see him. Between kids being sick and then just being busy with life, we just never made it there.

Nadia loving on great grandpa

Lasagna in the crock pot and my 32 oz of water and ice. Life is good right now.

  • Feeling a little off today and it doesn't help that I'm sitting in the heat waiting for kids to get out. This heat makes my entire body swell up like a balloon and it hurts so bad. I have cut back on my Dr Pepper and salt intake hoping it would help but so far it depends on the day.
I also made this for after dinner.

Before going in the oven. Quynsie called me little miss Betty crocker because I have been the main cook in the house for about a month trying out new recipes and such because I'm sick of the same crap every day and every week. I am trying to come up with enough stuff that we don't have the same thing more than maybe twice a month. Summer is coming and I'd like to go grocery shopping once a month minus milk and that sort of thing.

Got these new shoes in the mail today. I have never worn shoes without socks before except flip flops/sandals.
Yes, my feet are extremely swollen and they have been since I started my new birth control. I am so irritated at our insurance company because they would no longer cover my old birth control. I had been on it for 4 years and it worked great for me. Oh how I miss that brand.
I am not sure if that is the cause of this swelling, but putting the pieces together, it would seem that is the root of my problem.

They are building 15 more classrooms, 2 more kids bathrooms, and a couple more faculty bathrooms. I am excited to see how this all turns out in the end. They are hoping to have it completed by the start of next school year.

This is what I call success right there!!!! Yes I allowed my son to wear miss matched shoes to school. Why you ask? Because he actually put them on himself and tied them himself. Apparently he had a knot in one and so he decided to also self solve the problem. Great job buddy I'm proud of you.
This was dinner. It has become a big hit at our house.

Oh Lord the fighting over my girls have already begun. Raven likes this boy in our neighborhood but I just found out this boy only comes over for Nadia but Nadia doesn't like him.

Helping Quynsie cut out her quilt for young women's and girls camp. It is a rag quilt and is going to look amazing.
She is kind of scary using that cutting tool. She needs to slow down and watch what she is doing. I cut the tip of my finger off with one of these about 6 or so years ago.
This has been fun working with her on though.
I am in hopes that one day one of my girls or all of my girls will have a passion to sew like their mom.

Raven and Carson's class was featured in this video for the Arise team fundraiser.
This song is even stuck in my head because the kids all sing it every day all day, but I do love the theme for the school year. "We are Amazing"

The same day the video was featured for the school, this was making its rounds on facebook and I thought it was perfect. My kids are all amazing and unstoppable.

**Disclaimer** I got Nadia's permission to share this...

In therapy today Nadia did sand art. The black sand represents her past trauma and the rest of it represents how she has covered the past with happy things.

The path represents feeling safe to come to mom and dad about anything. ...

There is her siblings

There is Christ in front of disabled people and she said that it represents that Christ loves everyone and he sees them as being perfect.

The rest is nature because she loves the outdoors.

This is a very well thought out piece of art that she worked on in therapy today. She is very thoughtful and the part about Christ made me cry. This folks tells me that we are doing something right as parents.

Nadia is a very well adjusted kid despite her past.
She is very well spoken.
She worries about others and how they feel.
She is soft hearted.
She is always quick to help others.
She is very mature in her thoughts and can communicate those thoughts very maturely.
She is a great kid and we love her to pieces and are thankful that she is ours.

We have ice in the freezer for the first time in a year and I am so very excited about it.

After therapy we went to Joe's parents because tomorrow is Joe's dads birthday. Because we were already up north for therapy we stopped by today that way we don't have to go back up there tomorrow. The kids had a good time spending an hour there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOM!!! (me)

Last night we watched one of my favorite movies!!! HERBIE!!!
And the kids used their bed pillows and they worked out great.

This made me giggle when I got up this morning. Nadia made all of these signs and hung them up all over the house. It was really cute, but this sign made me laugh because in all reality, she thinks she is the Queen around here...LOL

Haha I just got a good laugh...
We are pulling into Walmart cause quynsie wants to buy me something for my birthday and Carson says "raven please don't goof off in here this time because you were annoying yesterday"
I laugh because a couple of weeks ago I told Joe that I don't like taking raven shopping because she can't behave herself well yesterday he took her and Carson shopping and Joe says to me when he got home "raven is a pain to shop with" I was like no kidding what do you think I have been trying to tell you?

This is just some of my birthday gifts.
I also got a portable ice maker (and I am in love with it). We actually got it off of ksl and payed half the price that we would have paid brand new. It sits on the counter and it is amazing.

I don't like cake so my parents made me fudge for my birthday cake.
Yep, that is right, I am 35 now and I am feeling it.
My age has never bothered me until now. I am almost 40 and that does bug me.

We have ice in our house again and I couldn't be more happy!!!
The ice maker on our fridge that came with our new house has not worked since we moved in. In fact just before we moved in, there was a water leak and we had to unhook the water line.

Cement is finally in! I can't wait till we can park on it, but it is in.

I finally pulled my brand new sewing machine out that I got for Christmas.

Quynsie and Carson's bed pillow. I made these specifically for camping or when we go to Beaver then the kids have something soft to sleep on. They turned out amazing. I am going to make Joe and I one as well because I hate the air mattress.

Nadia and Raven's bed pillow.

Since on Sunday's we go to family dinner, Joe made me a stake dinner tonight for my birthday tomorrow. My favorite...I always ask for stake for my birthday.

Yesterday Carson and I was in the right place at the right time. This accident happened just before I got to this intersection in orem and I was able to have one of the drivers sit in my car to stay warm until her husband got there. Thankfully there was just bumps and bruises.

This is me every morning, especially with Carson. He declares every day that he is not going to school and demands that I sign him out permanently and home school him.

Took Nadia's braids out this morning before school and we both loved the end results. In fact Quynsie loved it so much she begged me to braid hers tonight. I forgot to take a picture so I will have to in the morning. I will be putting her braids up in a bun so she can go babysit and not have to worry about her hair.

Raven accidently broke her tea set last night so this morning I fixed it the best that I could.

I don't know which one is more comical on pain medication, my dad or my grandpa. I totally forgot about an incident with my dad years ago until my grandma reminded me today. Anyway my grandpa has been keeping things real at the hospital. He took his monitoring device off yesterday and wheeled himself down to long term and the hospital staff couldn't find him.
My dad's story is that years ago when Joe and I bought our first house, he was dealing with shingles and was on pain medication, and was at our house helping with a remodel and I noticed that he wasn't looking good, so I told him to go get in the car. When I got out there, he was sitting in the middle of our driveway and I asked him what he was doing and he said, you told me to go get in the car. I was like, well, we have a problem then because you aren't in the car, you are sitting in the middle of my driveway.
Apparently, it is a father and son issue because they were both taking the same medication when both of these stories occurred, years apart.

Ingredients

Garlic-Knot Crust
  • 2 tubes pre-made biscuit dough
  • 3 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1½ tsp. garlic powder, divided
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Pizza Filling
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 slices pepperoni

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. For the garlic-knot crust: Cut each biscuit round in half (or quarter it, if the package makes extra-large biscuits), so they're about the size of a half-dollar. Dip the biscuit pieces in melted butter, then place them in a gallon-size resealable plastic bag and top with 1 tsp. garlic powder and parmesan cheese. Shake to coat.
  3. Pour coated dough balls into a large casserole dish, spreading them out in an even layer. Set aside.
  4. For the rest of the pizza: Place ground beef and 1/2 tsp. garlic powder in a sauté pan over medium heat. Cook beef, breaking it up into crumbles with the back of a spatula, until it's fully browned. Drain and mix with marinara sauce.
  5. Pour meat sauce onto pizza, covering the knots. Top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices. Bake in the oven for 20-22 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly, and garlic knots are puffed up and lightly golden (if you can see them).

This is going to be me one day...

This was dinner tonight...Ham and turkey cheese melts

Quynsie girls camp quilt material. The 3 bottom ones are the main parts and the top 3 are for cutting into squares. I'm not sure exactly how this is going to be put together since they are making them at young women's. It seems there could have been a much easier and cheaper way of doing this but quynsie loves that this ward does cool fun activities besides personal progress and cooking. She also ...loves girls camp here more as well. I think it helps that the girls all mesh and get along with one another. This is a smaller ward so that helps as well. Quynsie just had a hard time fitting in in the other ward she didn't feel comfortable to be herself and I think that has to do with the fact that it was a bigger ward. Here she has a friend that is her she and her family does foster care as well so she feels like someone gets her and understands our family dynamics.
