Carson Turns 6 11/08/2014

I cannot believe that our baby has turned 6. Time sure has flown by. He was only 3 when we got him and still a baby. He is now a big grown up boy who attends kindergarten all day. This boy knows how to push our buttons, but then seconds later he is making us laugh. He takes after my sister in that regard. It doesn't take him much time to think up a response that is so out-landish and off topic.

For example:

On Saturday (his birthday):

I just took Joe's plastic toy sword away from Carson because I'm trying to get him in bed and I through it by the dresser and Carson says. .. dad is going to be berry (very) mad at you.

He is such a momma's boy now days, which I am loving. He can read on a third grade level and do math on a beginning first grade level. He is too smart for his own good sometimes.

Carson we love you so much and are so thankful that you are apart of our eternal family. Happy birthday buddy.

Here are some photo's from his birthday:

In other news: Raven cracked me up at the school the other day.

Here is what happened:

I was sitting in my sister's truck when raven came out of the school. She said I opened the van door and poof you weren't there. I was like poof like I did a magic trick and disappeared just like that. She said yeah I was confused cause poof you were gone.

Quynsie made the Junior Honor Society today 11/10/14. We are so proud of her and the accomplishments she has made.

I am so glad I didn't marry a military man, businessmen, or truck driver because Joe is only going to be gone tonight on a small job in St. George and will be home tomorrow night, but I am a hot mess. I don't like being without my other half and best friend. Love you babe. Be safe.

Update on the rest of Summer and some Fall happenings

November 5:

So Nadia is practicing wrestling with Carson out in the garage and Joe told Carson to practice the sprawl and Nadia says I don't know how to do the sperm. Joe says I didn't say sperm I said sprawl. I started laughing and Nadia was like what did I say? I don't even know what sprawl is.

Here is a better picture of my very sexy man.

November 2:

Oh what a sweet boy I have. He came into my room a second ago climbed up on my bed and said mom I'm a really special boy. I was like yes yes you are and your my special little boy.

October 31: Halloween

The three younger ones. Here is a perfect picture of the duo

I helped in all of the kids classes today for the various Halloween parties. Joe took the three younger ones trick or treating while I stayed home with Quynsie because she wanted to hang out with her friend Hannah. I love that she has good friends.

This is not a good sign. If I have to do a breathing treatment on him that's sign of something worse coming on. He started tO cough a couple of days ago and today his voice was a bit off and then they came back from trick or treating and he sounded just awful and do does his cough.

When Joe got home from work fifteen minutes ago the first thing raven said to her dad was. ... "you don't got time to shower lets go. " apparently I say that way to often to Joe.

October 28:

I got an email from one of the jr high teachers saying they are going to be inviting Quynsie to join the national junior honors society. She should be bringing the application home tomorrow. Considering the struggles we have had academically with her I think this is pretty dang AMAZING.

So it happened yesterday. Carson is feeling comfortable with his teacher now and let his anger come out and kicked a box over. I knew it was going to happen eventually it was just a matter of when. His teacher is awesome and understands his sensory issue and tries to make things work for him but for whatever reason he showed his anger when he didn't get what he wanted.

On a brighter note I just heard Jr high student tell her friend she was going to go hang out with her mom. I hope my kids love hanging out with me.

October 25:

Our pumpkins

Here is all of them together

Carson is having a serious sensory issue right now and a big melt down because we won't wipe his butt for him. He is exactly two weeks away from being six and this is ridiculous. He knows how but for some reason the last week he has had an attitude about it and tonight a serious melt down.

After 30 minutes of uncontrollable crying Carson finally deciDed that we weren't going to wipe his bum so he finally did it himself. Thank heavens. Yes we made sure to give positive comments like good job buddy. See it wasn't too hard. Once he calmed down we asked him why he didn't want to wipe his bum he said I don't know. Which truthfully he doesn't know why or at least can't explain his overwhelming thoughts. We as parents know that when he sees a lot of anything (food toys big crowds etc. ) It overwhelms him and he just doesn't know what to do. It's just hard.

October 24:

This is what happens when all you want to do is argue and fight with one another. You get zipped up in dad's hunting vest together. Neither Raven or Nadia were happy about it.

This is what happens when you want to fight with each other and not stop after being asked multiple times. Neither one likes it.

October 23:

I think it just clicked in Carson's head that there are differences in bad words or phrases vs good words and phrases. He just said out of the blue that I hate you is a bad word and I love you is good words. I love these moments we have alone at bedtime. Things are definitely changing with him and I love it and him.

October 22: Carson's field trip to the Red Barn

Breanna Sly Davis's photo.

When I walked into Carson's class today for the field trip Carson's teacher walks over to me and hands me a dollar. She says "I'm not sure what your son was trying to do but. I guess tip me or something. "

Carson can stay like this forever. He was doing this on the field trip and some of the mom's were like I tried that in yoga the other day I think we need him to teach me and they kept saying how impressive

October 20:

I just realized that this coming April we will meet another first and milestone. We will have had the Kids half of Carson's life. That means that generally speaking we should be on the right side of the hill on reprogramming his thought process. They say that it generally takes half their life to reprogram your thought process so for Nadia it will be when she is 10 raven 14 Quynsie 22 (lets hope it's before she is an adult our close to it). Basically when we have had them longer than the age they were when they came to us

October 18:

Quynsie went with the Young Women to a ropes course

Getting ready to hang around with the 4th ward youth. #picstitchWe are brave and can do hard things. #picstitch

So Carson is watching football with me and I'm talking to my mom on the phone and I made a comment that I don't like basketball and Carson says I like basketball I watch it on fox sports 2. I'm like we don't have Fox sports two are you sure it wasn't with great grandpa our uncle Calvin? Yeah I watch it there he says.

October 17:

Oh what a sweet boy.... I think this nightly bonding thing (him laying with me) with him is working. He just said to me... mommy I really missed you while you were at bunco. This is twice in a week that he has shown true deep feelings of missing me. I usually say it first then he repeats it back but I think that is starting to change. I dropped him off at school the other day went and talked to ravens teacher then walked down to his class to check on him and he came running to me and wrapped his arms around my leg and said I missed you mommy. Twice in a week...I think we are making progress. Slow progress but progress none the less

October 16:

Besides pumpkins this is the closest we get to decorating for Halloween.

If anyone sees Joe at Costco in the parking lot remind him to check if he has his phone. He left it in a cart in the parking lot again today. Twice in a month people twice. Ugh

October 15:

Can you hear that? Yeah me too!!! It's Nadia raven and Quynsie arguing and Carson throwing a tantrum because he didn't get what he wanted right when he wanted it. ...I think tomorrow is going to be a major cleaning day. Go fall break. .. oh wait that means four kids home constantly fighting. ... oh wait there is plenty of house to clean and they can all be in a different room. Yeah I think that's what we are going to do clean in separate rooms of the house. . Keep them separated. Good plan of action I think.

October 13:

Nadia calls this confetti cheese.

Nadia just asked for the confetti cheese....

October 11:

It is this pretty girls one year anniversary with our family today. She was placed in our home one year ago. I can't believe it's been a year already. She truly completes our family. Your dad and I and you brother and sisters love you so much. Thank you for choosing us to be your eternal family.

Carson is big into volcanoes right now and he just told his sister's that he wants a real toy volcano and he will tell grandma in Beaver and she'll listen. Lol where does this kid come up with this stuff. Apparently he is one spoiled boy down there at grandma's in Beaver.

October 10:

What a sweet baby girl. Massaging my arm and then says thank you for being my mommy. I love being her mommy.

October 7:

As I reflect back on this past year a lot has happened. I had a breast cancer scare and surgery. We got custody of Quynsie and gained life long friends we adopted Quynsie Carson was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder and adhd we had Quynsie sealed to us Carson started kindergarten Nadia second raven fourth and Quynsie seventh.

October 5: Watching Conference

While watching conference, I asked Nadia to sit down. Her response: "I am shitting"

So yesterday while Joe raven Nadia and Carson went with grandpa pine nut hunting they were pulling out of the driveway when Carson says grandpa you need to stop right now we don't have our seat belts on and your gonna get us killed.

October 4:

Carson just said this to Nadia.... it makes me sad when your feelings are hurt because it hurts my feelings.... what a sweet boy he can be.

October 3: Raven's 4th grade field trip

Trip to Great Grandma and Grandpa's

October 1:

I went back to fourth grade today. This is my book report....eerr... I mean ravens report. Raven wrote the stuff on the Skelton (cards) I put it together and then she colored the face. I love that their teachers are creative in coming up with awesome fun book report ideas. I should get an "A" right? Lol

September 28:

Carson comes in and says this is a tricky kind of purse.

Carson comes in and says this is a tricky kind of purse.

Dear Lord please Grant me the patience because I have lost it a few times today already. I'm tired of fixing Carson's walls because he gets board in the middle of the night and pulls paint off. I'm fed up with the girls not lisTening when asked to do sometHing and I'm really sick of laundry and people purposely putting on clothes then changing their mind and instead of putting away they drop it on the floor shove it under their beds or in the back of their closets. Every weekend I'm having to go and clean it all up. Like really how hard is it to pick school clothes? They wear a uniform for crying out loud.

September 27:

This is a photo moment. Everyone who knows Joe knows that he absolutely hates board games so this is amaZing. What a great dad

September 24:

The tragedy..... where do I start. In our home we see the effects of someone else's bad choices with our kids. They were taught bad habits and trying to break those bad habits has been weighing on me really hard the past few weeks. Serious attitudes, mouthy, and a ring leader isn't helping either. Being an adoptive parent to older children is hard and stressful work. I love my kids to pieces it's just hard watching them struggle and making bad choices.
The privilege is that I get to raise these children and try to shape them into productive people in this world.

Some days I just want to bang my head against the wall. After school transitions are hard on my little guy. He holds in all of his frustration at school and the second (literally) he gets in the car the melt down starts. It takes a good hour to calm him down enough to do homework and whatever else needs to be done.

Carson read the word"energetically" without sounding it out. Say what! !!!!? Sometimes his smarts are to my disadvantage.

September 23:

So Carson was doing this while I was signing him up for wrestLing and when I asked him what he was doing he said uncle Michael  showed me how to blow my muscles up so I could be big and strong

Waiting for Quyn to finish up at tutoring so we are playing at the park.

September 18: Things heard around the house

Apparently I'm going to jail today because I refuse to buy Carson a treat at Wal-Mart and that's illegal. His words not mine.

Um excuse me babe but raven and Nadia just found out that you were home and that they don't have to go with me to take Carson to therapy. This was Nadia response.... yeah we get to stay with the party dad and raven said.... the king of fun. I think they better get their homework done.

September 12: Kindergarten field trip

I asked Carson this morning how he can tick me off so bad one minute and then make me laugh the next. His answer.... cause I just know how to make you laugh. Guess what little boy you also know how to push buttons as well.

September 11:

I have the most amazing husband and kids. When the Kids are testing my patience Joe is quick to help out. He is the best daddy I could have asked for my kids. As for my kids they are always thinking of others and making sure they are ok. Love my husband and four littles.

September 10: Dinner with the Missionaries

September 9:

Apparently I have gone back to 7th grade. Quynsie needed a life model for one of her classes. She asked me and then gave me a list of topics I could speak on. I picked charity with an emphasis on kids in foster care since that has been a focus in our home.

I told Quyn I was going to school like this and with the worst behead I could come up with to do her class presentation.. She is almost in tears now. The joke is on her when I actually show up to her class well put together....lol
