HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I got a phone call around 1 from a teacher at the school telling me that Carson split his lip open. I asked if it looked bad. They said, it looks like hamburger, but really it only looks like a split lip like when your lips are dry. Then the receptionist sent me a picture and really it didn't look bad so I called the school back and told them to send him back to class and that I would look at it when I came to pick him up. 45 minutes later I got a text from Carson's teacher saying that his lip was still bleeding and that I probably should come check it out. When I got there, I was like ya, it is deep and maybe we should get it checked.
I took him down to the urgent care clinic and they put one stitch in it.
I took him back to school to finish off the Halloween festivities.
I stayed at the school in the carpool lane because, lets face it, there was no reason for me to go home and then back again.
Next thing I know it, his teacher walks him out to the car and tells me that he chewed the stitch out.
I took him back down to the doctor office and they stitched it a second time, but this time they put 3 stitches in.
I kid you not, within an hour he had already managed to chew one of the stiches out.
I stopped and got some liquid bandage and have been applying that just to keep the other two stitches in. Well, he went trick or treating with dad and by the time he got home, he had chewed another one out. I am hopeful that with all of the glue on his lip, that the last stich will stay there.
I refuse to take him back to get it stitched again because there wasn't much skin left to stich it in the first place. I will just use the liquid bandage on it until it heals.

So yes, our boy has had 2 sets of stiches in the past month or so and if you want to get technical, he has had 2 sets in one day and the third one was from his eye a month ago.

This boy likes to live on the edge. He loves danger and is not afraid of much of anything.
I need some bubble wrap for this kid.
I think boys are harder to raise than girls....
ok so maybe not...
the girls I have to worry about the pms and hormone changes.

Carson's Sly family Birthday party

After family dinner, Quynsie and I went to our stake fireside. It was really good.
We listened to TC Christensen tell about the 1986 Cokeville Miracle. They also had a survivor named Amy who also spoke.
The only thing I was disappointed in was that not many of our youth showed up.
Quynsie wasn't all that excited to go either until after the fireside and she said "Thanks mom for making me go."

I have dreamed of the day that I would be able to go to a fireside or a women's conference with one of or all of my girls, and tonight that dream came true.

Being a Young Women leader gives me such anxiety, yet I am so excited to be there and to serve. I am excited to be Raven's leader when she comes into young women's in May.
My anxiety I think stems from all of the time I am spending away from the rest of my clan. Come June, I will be gone for 4 days with Raven and Quynsie at girls camp. I have never been away from my kids for more than one night at a time. I have never been away from Joe for more than a night at a time either in 16 years. Yet, I am so excited to go to girls camp. I loved girls camp when I was a youth. I had an amazing time with amazing friends and leaders.
I want my girls to experience the same thing I did.
Girls camp is AWESOME!!!

Glad I have the skills to modify costumes and clothes. Trying to modify Carson's Halloween costume. It was the only one they had and it is a bit big so here I sit.

EEEEKKKSSS.....I am so beside myself right now.
I can finally park my car in the garage.
It only took a year and a half to be able to, but I can now!!!

The best part of parking in the garage was when the kids came outside to carve pumpkins, Raven was like, um where is the van? She was even looking right at the garage and the door was open.

I cleaned up my sewing station after I finished Carson's costume. I even dusted everything.

We use power tools and egg beaters to carve pumpkins.

Quynsie, Joe, Raven, Carson, Nadia, and then mine from when I carved it at young women's a couple of weeks ago.

Nadia's piano teacher sent this to me tonight...

I See You
I see you running your child to therapy when your friends are running their kids to Little League or ballet
I see you slipping out of the conversation when your friends are all chiming in about milestones and test grades.
...
I see you constantly juggling appointments and meetings.
I see you sitting at your computer for hours researching what your child needs.
I see you cringe when people whine about what feels like petty things.
I see you spread thin but still going the extra mile for your family.
I see you digging for depths of strength you never dreamed you had.
I see you showing appreciation to the teachers, therapists and medical professionals who serve your child with you.
I see you rising early in the morning to do it all again after another chaotic night.
I see you when you’re hanging on to the end of your rope for dear life.
I know you feel invisible, like nobody notices any of it. But I want you to know I notice you. I see you relentlessly pushing onward. I see you keep choosing to do everything in your power to give your child the best possible care at home, in school, at therapy and the doctor.
What you’re doing matters. It’s worth it.
On those days when you wonder if you can do it another minute, I want you to know I see you. I want you to know you’re beautiful. I want you to know it’s worth it. I want you to know you aren’t alone. I want you to know love is what matters most, and you have that nailed.
And on those days when you have breakthroughs, those times when the hard work pays off and success is yours to cherish, I see you then too, and I am proud of you.
Whichever day today is, you’re worthy, you’re good and I see you.

Raven's Orchestra Halloween Concert

I am disappointed that I was not able to see Raven play because she was in the very back of the group and she is short so we could not see her.
I will say that the concert sounded good.
She dressed up as a Freak Show Clown.

We voted today!

Great job Raven!

We had another first in our house today:
Quynsie went and babysat for someone other than family or a family friend.
She will also go again on Saturday morning.
She seemed to have had a good time and enjoyed the kids that she was watching.

Young Women's tonight was combined with the young men. We did a scripture dinner.
It was a ton of fun and I am sorry that Quynsie was not able to be there due to her babysitting.
I did find myself thinking about her often and missing her, but I know that she was working and doing what she needed to do.
This picture is of my BFF Bethany. She is my co-advisor for the Beehive class.
Having a church calling is so much better when you are doing it with your bestie.

October 24, 2016

Things I forgot to post over the weekend.

I also went to therapy today. Joe had to work late and I mean work late. He did not get home until almost 9 tonight.

October 23, 2016

This is how I spent my Sunday morning.
We spent it at the walk in clinic here in town.
Nadia started complaining of a sore throat and that she felt like she had sores in the back of her mouth.
I looked in her mouth and sure enough there was some white spots. First thought was strep.
Got her tested and it came back negative. Just a nasty virus.

Because Nadia is sick, Joe and I had to tag team Church. We both had a teaching responsibility to full-fill and thankfully, they were at different hours.
I went to Sacrament with Quynsie and Raven. Joe and Carson came 10 minutes before it ended. I left right after to come home to be with Nadia. Then I went back to teach my class and bring the other 3 home. Joe then went home.

We skipped family dinner and stayed home.

We went to Addams Family play that the school put on.
It was amazing and so hilarious.
My favorite quote was...
"if you want to act like a tool, then go sleep in the shed"

AND THIS MY FRIENDS HAPPENED TODAY!!!!

I am so proud of our little man!

I asked him today before school if he could get at least one 3 on his behavior sheet, and when he came out to the car after school and handed it to me, I made the biggest deal out of it.
I then stopped at the gas station on the way home and let him pick whatever candy he wanted because this IS A BIG DEAL!!!

After getting his treat, I asked him how he felt and he said, "Mom, it was really hard being that good all day, but I like not being in trouble after school."
Buddy, I sure love you not being in trouble after school too.

Father and Son out playing catch last Sunday.
It was awesome watching Carson catch onto how to throw it and then catch the ball.

Nadia and I made DumbellDore from Harry Potter for her book report.
The main part of the book report had to be from a pumpkin.

At Young Women's last night we made apple pies.
Quynsie was not thrilled with me taking a picture of her.
The picture above is of me and my bestie/co-beehive advisor.

Carson had a pretty good day yesterday at school.

October 18, 2016

And just like that, volleyball has come to an end.
I do have to say I am very proud of Quynsie for keeping her grades up the entire 1st quarter while also playing and practicing Volleyball.
I have enjoyed the one on one time with Quynsie on our drive home from the away games, but I do have to admit that I am looking forward to getting back into our regular routine with all of the kids.

October 14, 2016

I still love when Carson and Nadia's biological Aunt sends me pictures of the kids brother (he is adopted by aunt).
Nadia, Carson and Jaiden are full siblings (they have the same bio mom and bio dad)
Quynsie and Raven share the same bio mom as the other three, but have different bio dads.

October 13, 2016

This is Nadia's pig collection. She still wants more pigs and I am wondering where she thinks she is going to put them.

October 12, 2016

Doing some metabolic test. I hate having my nose plugged for even just a second and I have to do this for 20 minutes.

And this little turd had been amazing all morning. He had o.t this morning and now we are at my appointment. Hopefully we have time to get lunch before picking up the girls from school at 12:30. Fall break is this weekend.

This was our Beehive Young Women's activity tonight.
Don't mind Jaden phot bombing my photo.

I came home from Young Women's to Joe trying to figure out how to give Carson his breathing treatment. 4 years of having to do this, and he still struggles with it. I am the one that usually gives it to him so I understand why Joe was struggling.
Anyway, I guess, he run outside in the cooler air.
When is this kid ever going to learn that he can't play outside in the cold?
His asthma really never picks up until the winter.
